Welcome to CUC Youth! We are so excited to have you. Check back on this page for opportunities to meet, play games, serve the community, and learn. The Columbine United Church youth ministry is a community for 6th-12th graders based on love of God, love of each other, and love of self. It is a safe place for meaningful connection and spiritual growth through service, learning, discovery, and, of course, fun activities. Find us on Facebook and Instagram!
About CUC Youth
The youth ministry of Columbine United Church strives to uphold these four values:
- Love- Love of God, love of neighbor, and love of self guides everything we do as a youth group. At the CUC youth group, we strive to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment based on acceptance, mutual respect, kindness, and service to others.
- Connection- Meaningful connections drive our youth group as we build opportunities to be involved in the life of the church, the traditions of the Christian community. Not only are the youth of CUC building meaningful connections with their peers, but the adults of the church are investing in teaching, guiding, and loving the youth.
- Safety- Safety at the CUC youth group is one of our top priorities. All of our volunteer and staff leaders undergo training, background checks, and supervision. In addition to the physical safety of our students, the youth are always welcome to speak their mind, share their stories, and ask hard questions.
- Growth- Finally, we strive to encourage the students in their journey of faith knowing that it is a lifelong journey. We provide opportunities for students to grow in service, mission trips, learning, and purposeful reflection.
Check out our Calendar for Upcoming Events:
*In a typical year, we would post our 12-month calendar. However, due to COVID-19, we are scheduling less far out.
Sunday Youth Groups meet throughout the year on Sunday evenings. Middle School Youth are 6th-8th grades and meet from 4:00-5:30 PM. High School Youth are 9th-12th grades and meet from 5:30- 7:00 PM. We design this time to be informal and relaxed so that we can disconnect from the stress of the school week and reconnect with our faith and our friends. We play games, worship, and talk about ways to live a Christian life as a teenager.
NOTE ON COVID-19: We are currently monitoring the pandemic to evaluate whether we meet on Zoom or in person. Our in-person meetings are socially distanced and we always wear masks! To keep up with the latest information, please contact our Youth Director.
Worship Participation is a great way to connect with the larger church community. We have a few rows reserved for Youth at the back of the sanctuary, on the right side. We gather there each Sunday for the 10 am worship service.
For now, please join us on Facebook or Youtube for worship. Leave a comment and let us know you were there!
Summer Mission Trips are an awesome way to serve others with your peers. Separate trips are planned for high school and middle school youth. Destinations are typically announced early in the fall. High Schoolers travel a greater distance, and middle schoolers tend to stay within Colorado, usually within a couple of hours of Denver. Trips are typically a week-long experience, and involve a commitment for group fundraising and reporting back to the congregation on Youth Sunday. Mission Trips are experiences that the youth remember for the rest of their lives!
High School Mission Trip 2021
June 13-19 to Kansas City, MO
Middle School Mission Trip 2021
July 21-25 in Littleton, CO with a trip to the Great Sand Dunes
Students in the 8th grade and above meet on the 2nd Sunday of each month before youth group from October to April to discuss and learn the important elements of the Christian faith. This is a time set aside for them to explore what they believe with their peers. In May, those who choose to join the church will be confirmed and celebrated in Sunday morning worship. Email our Youth Director, Samantha, at email@example.com for more information.
Volunteer with Youth
If you love junk food, Frisbee, dance parties, best friend drama, homework hives and all the rest of the joy that comes with teenagers, join in the fun as a Youth Ministry volunteer! More than just a chaperone or playground supervisor, we need adults who love to walk alongside youth every week as they sort out all the pressures inside and out and develop a meaningful faith. It’s a rewarding experience like no other!
Please note that a background check is required for all of our volunteers.
