Welcome to CUC

CUC is an open, welcoming community.  Democrat or Republican, gay or straight, cowboy or tech-hipster, traditional or contemporary, young or young-at-heart, or somewhere outside any of these labels – you will find CUC to be a place with open arms, ready to embrace you just as you are.  We strive to be a place where real life meets an everyday faith that makes sense and makes a difference.

Feel and experience the energy and community at CUC – the connection that families are finding in our children and youth ministries, the meaning individuals are discovering through our worship, service and mission projects, and the friendships that transform life in our small groups and Christian education classes!

Our vision is that all who seek a relationship with God will come to Columbine United Church and find light, love and friends for their spiritual journey.  We invite you to come as you are to the CUC community.  One that accepts, nurtures, listens and inspires.  One that offers many opportunities to explore and celebrate growing healthy relationships with God, self and others that are shaped by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Embracing the spirit of this vision encourages a life bright with purpose, participation, fellowship and giving.  It is a life abundant with the adventure of growing together in faith.

Ready to visit CUC?  Join us for worship on Sunday morning!  Our 8:00 AM service is traditional and features our chancel choir.  We offer an Adult Sunday School at 9:10 AM, taught by one of our pastors.  Interested in contemporary worship? Come to our 10:00 service.  You’ll hear amazing music featuring our Director of Music, Mitch Samu, and CUC’s band, and your kids can join our caretakers in the nursery or take part in our KidMin Sunday School.  Be sure to join us for a continental breakfast in Biel Hall between 9AM and 10AM, and sit down to meet some new CUC friends!

What to Expect

Walking through the doors of a new church can be a little confusing, so let us make your first time at CUC easier!

The Parking Lot

Enter our parking lot off Christensen Lane. We provide ample parking on site, and overflow parking is available, when needed, next door at Wilder Elementary. For our guests, we’ve reserved several spots identified with signs reading “Visitor Parking,” near our main doors. Handicapped accessible spots are also located near the main entrance.

Entering the Building

Enter through our the main doors, on the north side of the building.  Through those glass doors you’ll find a warm hand to shake and bright smiles all around.  We call that space “the Lobby,” and it’s a great spot to chat with current friends and friends-to-be.

Finding Where Everybody Goes

If you have infants or toddlers, check out our Nursery, to the right of the main doors in the building.  For children between preschool through 5th grades, follow the stairs down to our fantastic Children, Youth & Families level.  Greeters at the bottom of the stairs will help you find and settle your kids into an age-appropriate class.  If you have teenagers, they meet on the main level at the back of the the sanctuary to worship together at the 10am service.  Ushers will greet you at the doors and provide you with a bulletin before entering the sanctuary.

Getting the 411 on CUC

You’ll see a variety of types of dress at CUC on Sunday mornings, but most will be dressed casually.  In the bulletin, you’ll find information about CUC and announcements that relate to our church community.  If you need assistance with anything, be sure to check back in with our ushers.  They are there to help you!

If you are wondering when to stand up, sit down, sing, pray or listen, just follow the people around you.  We are a casual group, so do not feel any pressure that you have to know what you are doing – you’re free to be yourself.  Truly, it’s the only way we know how to worship.

Straight through the Lobby is our kitchen and dining area, Biel Hall.  Each Sunday we offer a delicious continental breakfast!  Come in and enjoy a muffin, danish, bagel or just a (complimentary) cup of coffee over conversation with others at CUC.  We ask for $1 per item you take, to cover the expense of providing breakfast, but let your first meal be on the house, as our welcome to you.
