Sunday Services

Our building is currently undergoing a major renovation and will be under construction through (hopefully) August of 2021. We’re excited to be able to welcome you back in the building again post-construction and post-COVID!

We are finally worshiping together again in-person on Sunday mornings! We are using the sanctuary at Denver South Seventh-Day Adventist Church. We will rent this space until our building is finished.

At Columbine United Church, we celebrate the presence of God through lively and inspirational music, creative liturgy, meaningful prayer, and dynamic preaching. Worship is the expression of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Through worship, we not only come into God’s presence, but we also contemplate what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.

10:30am In-Person Service at Denver South

We are worshipping together at Denver South Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2675 S Downing St, Denver, CO 80210.

We are renting the sanctuary at this church until our building is finished (June or July). This sanctuary is Huge and seats 640 people (pre-COVID). For safety’s sake we are limiting our attendance to 90 people. If we fill up our 10:30am service we will add a second service for the following week. There are two “Baby Cry Rooms” in the back of the sanctuary that are isolated and enclosed if you are more at-risk but still wish to participate.

Masks are required per Denver South’s request.

Families on Sunday Mornings

Infants and Children of all ages are always welcome in our Sunday worship service. We also have a nursery right outside of the sanctuary for Infants through 3-year-olds.

We offer a Children’s Ministry program for ages 4 years through 5th grade during the 10am hour.

If you have infants or toddlers, check out our Nursery, to the right of the main doors in the building. For children between preschool through 5th grades, follow the stairs down to our fantastic Children, Youth & Families level. Greeters at the bottom of the stairs will help you find and settle your kids into an age-appropriate class. If you have teenagers, they meet on the main level at the back of the the sanctuary to worship together at the 10am service. Ushers will greet you at the doors and provide you with a bulletin before entering the sanctuary.

Meet the Pastors

Every month we have a special invitation to newcomers to drop in and have coffee with Sr Pastor Steve or Pastor Jill. This is a great chance for us to learn more about you and for you to ask questions.

What to Expect

The Parking Lot

Enter our parking lot off Christensen Lane. We provide ample parking on site, and overflow parking is available, when needed, next door at Wilder Elementary. For our guests, we’ve reserved several spots identified with signs reading “Visitor Parking,” near our main doors. Handicapped accessible spots are also located near the main entrance.

Entering the Building

Enter through the main doors, on the north side of the building. Through those glass doors you’ll find a warm hand to shake and bright smiles all around. We call that space “the Lobby,” and it’s a great spot to chat with current friends and friends-to-be.

Finding Where Everyone Goes

Ushers will greet you at the doors and provide you with a bulletin before entering the sanctuary.

Getting the 411 on CUC

You’ll see a variety of types of dress at CUC on Sunday mornings, but most will be dressed casually. In the bulletin, you’ll find information about CUC and announcements that relate to our church community. If you need assistance with anything, be sure to check back in with our ushers. They are there to help you!

Breakfast

Straight through the Lobby is our kitchen and dining area, Biel Hall. Each Sunday we offer a delicious continental breakfast! Come in and enjoy a muffin, danish, bagel or just a (complimentary) cup of coffee over conversation with others at CUC. We ask for $1 per item you take, to cover the expense of providing breakfast, but let your first meal be on the house, as our welcome to you.

Volunteer Opportunities

Future Sunday Morning Volunteer Opportunities

Interested in volunteering on Sunday mornings? Please complete the form below!

Welcome Team

Have you ever walked into a church not knowing anyone, and no one greets you or says Hello? We claim to be a friendly church – one that greets you warmly at the front door, hugs your kids, helps you find the Church School class, makes you feel welcome, and even serves a continental breakfast every Sunday morning! Our welcome team is roving in the lobby every Sunday morning, locating visitors and assisting in any way they can. If you can’t spot them, stop at the information booth (a.k.a. The Welcome Spot) and they will answer all of your questions.

Ushers

Duties for ushers are simple: smiling, handing out announcement sheets, smiling, helping people find seats, smiling, taking the collection, and smiling. You are the welcoming face of CUC to established members and visitors as they come into service.

Communion Team

We’re not sure what this will look like post-COVID

Breakfast Team

One Sunday each month we host a breakfast. It’s a wonderful time for those attending worship to visit with their CUC friends and family. This breakfast is free, and maintained through donations. A volunteer team is needed each Sunday morning to help with cooking, set up and hospitality.
